Friendships in “Adulthood”

I think a huge thing that isn’t talked about often is how friendships grow & develop with age.

Regardless of when you’ve met a friend, the ideal friendship is one that grows and changes along with you as the years go by.

I think there’s a lot of unspoken pressure we put on ourselves to maintain a certain physical proximity to our friends. While friendship is a two way street, I think it’s important to remember that any strong bond takes some flexibility to truly test its strength.

One thing i often struggle with is feeling at times physically far from friends (🥹) and worrying if that physical distance will drastically change things in the future.

While yes, “long-distance” friendships are different, I think there’s a wonderful quality to a bond that can’t easily be changed due to distance or time.

Picking up right where you left off when you last saw each other is a rare quality. And that should be celebrated! How beautiful is that!

Investing in being present for your friends no matter where you are in the world obviously takes effort. But when the intention to remain emotionally close is there, those bonds are just that harder to break.

P.S. clearly…I love my friends near & far!!!!!
